Presenters

Dr. Javier Gonzalez

Dr. Javier Gonzalez is a Professor of Nutrition and Metabolism at the University of Bath and a leading researcher at the Centre for Nutrition, Exercise and Metabolism. His work focuses on how the body uses fuel—how we turn food into energy, how exercise changes the way we burn that energy, and how excess fuel is stored, particularly in ways that affect blood sugar control. An award-winning scientist and experienced communicator, Professor Gonzalez regularly works with health, sport, and nutrition organizations to translate research into advice that people can use in their daily lives.

Dr. sarah Mccorquodale

Dr. Sarah McCorquodale provides strategic leadership for the Faculty of Medicine’s undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programs within B.C.’s Interior. In collaboration with Interior Health, divisions of family practice, and community partners, she helps to ensure a high-quality educational experience for all learners in the region, and facilitates the Faculty’s health research strategy for the Interior. Dr. McCorquodale is a family physician and a clinical associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine. Her clinical practice focuses on perinatal care and lifestyle management of metabolic syndrome and diabetes.
