Prepare to Apply

Talk to your research supervisor and get permission to apply for the conference. As the nature of some research may be sensitive, this step is crucial, and applications will not be accepted without supervisor approval.

Your abstract should be a maximum of 350 words and accessible to a generalist audience. Use brief definitions, clear explanations, and concrete real-world examples to help readers understand the study’s focus and importance.

Since the ISHC is not a specialized conference, the ISHC review committee will be assessing whether a generalist audience will be able to follow the abstract. To support your learning, the ISHC Review Committee will provide feedback on each submitted abstract.

Attend our “How to Write an Abstract” workshop:
Date: Tuesday, January 13th, 2026
Location: Virtual (Centre for Scholarly Communication)
View recording (Passcode: CSC2026!)

Abstracts exceeding 350 words will be truncated before being sent for review. Do not include references in your abstract. Please see our abstract review criteria below for guidance.
